official garage sale account for the day....

Today was my dh's first Saturday morning free so far this spring, so we got up early before any of the kids and snuck off to garage sales. The nice part about having a teenager in the house, very convenient and cheap babysitting!

I have to say it started off great, I happened to be wearing my u2 concert tshirt and our first purchase of the day was the cassette of "Under a Blood Red Sky"! It as perfect because we were in Larry's car which doesn't have a cd player, only cassette, so I was being subjected to listening to the radio. From that point on it was all u2 all morning, doesn't get any better than that, lol!

In the final analysis, here's what we bought and crammed into that tiny car:
  • patio umbrella, something I've really been wanting: $10
  • 2 oscillating fans, one is a large one with it's own stand: $5 for both
  • 2 fishing poles, one really small perfect for Lilly, the other for Barrett: $3 for both
  • 1 bag of khaki pants, black pants for work and some tshirts, all for Larry: $4 for the bag
  • 1 small white bookshelf, for my bedroom: $5
  • 1 bag of 12 small skeins of fingering weight wool yarn: 25 cents per skein
  • 1 wool/mohair scarf from Scotland, for felting: 50 cents
  • 2 wool sweaters, also for my felting experiments: $2
  • 2 pairs of shoes for Lilly: $1 each pair
  • 1 gorgeous indigo batik dress from Indonesia for Lilly: $1
  • 1 pair of computer speakers, new, for my laptop because the built in speakers suck: $1
  • 1 pair of capri's and 1 pair of pj/lounging pants for Britt: $1 per pair
  • 1 pair of Nike shoes for Tucker: 5o cents
  • 1 beanie baby unicorn, a white one to go with her favorite pink one "Unicorny": 50 cents
  • 1 Mr and Mrs Potato Head set in it's own carrying case, with all the pieces: 75 cents
  • 1 waffle iron, brand new: $2
  • 1 shovel for picking up "dog bombs" in the yard: 50 cents

Add to that the cost of 2 Starbucks iced triple grande mochas, 1 newspaper, and about 10 phone calls from the kids, and you get 4 hours of Saturday morning fun. It really was fun!

Larry and the kids are going fishing this afternoon, I'm staying home and honestly probably taking a nap. I don't usually get up at 6am on Saturdays, but it was worth it!
