baby deer

Those photos on the right side of this page in my flickr sidebar were taken by Larry yesterday when he and the kids went for their hike. They found this baby deer that was just born, and the mama deer was there, too, just a little ways away. Larry didn't get very close, just used the zoom lens to get some good pics but didn't want to scare the mom away or make her abandon the baby. I think it's neat that the kids got to see such a newborn fawn, how many times will they get a chance to see something like that in the wild? Can't wait to get the prints back and scrapbook it, lol!
